Visas
The U.S. has updated its visa policies to increase security for our citizens and
visitors. Due to increasing delays in securing visas to the United States,
prospective international attendees should begin this process as early as
possible to ensure approval. Participants who will require a visa to enter the
U.S. are encouraged to start the application process at least six months before
the conference. Please, check the
U.S.
Department of State for more information.
It’s Important to Apply Early
The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs now posts
Visa Wait Times
to estimate how long it may take for you to receive your visa. It could take as
long as 90 days from your interview date. Additional information on
international visitors attending scientific conferences in the US is provided by
the
US National Academy of Sciences.
Note that CAARI 2012 is registered with the U.S. Department of State. The list
of registered meetings is shared with the DoS Visa Services and disseminated to
U.S. consulate offices worldwide.
The Conference Assistant can provide qualified participants with a letter
confirming their intent to attend CAARI-2012. Request this letter by sending an
email message to
holly.decker@unt.edu. Put on the Subject line:
CAARI 2012 –
Invitation Letter. This invitation is meant to help with your Visa application,
but it is not a commitment from the organizers to provide financial support or
acceptance of an abstract.
